No. 5 – A winning season by Arizona Women’s Basketball

It’s been a tough few years for Arizona Women’s Basketball. A program that hasn’t had a winning season since 2010-11, and hasn’t been to the NCAA Tournament since 2005, perhaps this is the year to change those things, or more importantly, so we wish!

So far, the Wildcats are 10-1, off to the best start since that 2010-11 season, when Arizona began the year 11-2. The Wildcats finished that season 21-12, losing to Utah State in the first round of the NIT Tournament.

Since then, Arizona has gone a combined 76-138. The talent is getting better, as is the depth, and I have a strong feeling the Wildcats could be turning the corner real soon!

They have a solid core of talent, however, the biggest obstacle moving forward is the Pac-12, just as it always is. Ten of the other 11 conference teams have winning records thus far, and has five teams in the Top 25… that’s some stiff competition.

Luckily the Wildcats just need to win six of their 18 remaining games to make sure the team has a winning season. However, having just six wins all last season, progress is progress, and that’s why our wish is to see the Wildcats have a winning season!
