NEW YORK CITY, NY- Former Wildcat Allonzo Trier has career night for the New York Knicks in a loss against the Houston Rockets.
It’s been a long season for the New York Knicks so far, but perhaps brighter days are ahead with the stellar play of former Wildcat Allonzo Trier on Wednesday evening.
There’s just something about Madison Square Garden that brings out the best play in people. In front of a pretty large crowd, many will remember the continued stellar play of 2018-19 MVP favorite, James Harden.

However, what won’t be forgotten was the career night that Trier had. Our former Wildcat that went undrafted is continuing to play with a chip on his shoulder, and is definitely making the most of his opportunities
Coming into the year, it was unknown how the rookie would perform, but already 46 games in, he’s far exceeding expectations. So much in fact, that Trier already signed a new deal this year, replacing his two-way contract.
Well on Wednesday night against the Rockets, Trier showed he’s worth every penny and then some.
Harden was once again on a terror, eventually finishing with 61 points, but Trier wasn’t going to let him be the only talking point. In the 114-110 loss to Houston, Trier turned in quite the performance himself.
Playing 33 minutes in the loss, Trier did his best to help keep this one close, finishing the game with 31 points (his new career high), 10 rebounds and three assists. More impressive, is that Trier finished 12-18 from the field, also finishing with a game-high +/- of 19.
Just as Harden continued to impress the fans, Trier is still making his introductions and proving his doubters wrong. The crafty and assertive rookie dazzled fans in attendance, showing that perhaps brighter days are ahead.
He even had this nice crossover on PJ Tucker to score two and give the Knicks the late lead, albeit briefly.

In hindsight, the scouts got it wrong, and certainly didn’t value Trier enough coming into the draft. Following tonight, the rookie is averaging 10.5 points per game, with 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists as well.
Over his last three games, the rookie is averaging 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. It’s safe to say, he’s been on a terror of late.
Just take a look at some of his highlights Wednesday evening!
At Zona Zealots, we’re happy for Zo and are glad to see his continued success! He’s really showing people wrong and it’s exciting to see his continued growth! Bear Down, Arizona!
