Arizona Football gains first commitment for the class of 2020
Already turning its focus to the future, the Arizona Football team has team locked up its first commitment for the class of 2020.
With days until National Signing day for the class of 2019, the Arizona Football team actually turns its focus to 2020. Already, the Cats are making strides in the class, officially picking up their first commitment.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Wildcats got things going in a big way as they gained their first commitment in the class. Meet Will Plummer, the 6-foot-2-inch 205-pound pro-style quarterback from Gilbert High School in Gilbert, Arizona.
Arizona Wildcats
Rated just a three-star prospect and the No. 31 overall pro-style quarterback in the class, Plummer announced his decision via social media.
The ‘gun-slinger’ from just up the road, ultimately picked the Wildcats, despite holding offers from Oklahoma State, Colorado and Duke among others.
It’s worth noting, that even though he is a QB, and the Wildcats seem to be pretty well set at the position, one thing we should all know is that you can never have enough QB’s competing against each other.
As Plummer becomes the first commitment in the class of 2020, he’s definitely a good one. Disregard the tough season by the Gilbert Tigers last year, the then junior led the team with 3,229 passing yards, with 25 touchdowns to 15 interceptions according the Maxpreps.
He also shows some good mobility as a quarterback as well, running for over 500 yards on 92 carries.
When breaking down his film, there’s a lot of things to like. For one, he has good overall size and is only going to continue to develop. He has plus arm strength, being able to sling it pretty well across the field.
He looks to have nice vision and overall touch, and has good foundational skills and mechanics to be able to improve upon as well.
Plummer moves well in the pocket. He’s able to keep plays alive and gets creative with the football by being patient in finding his receivers and plays with a lot of confidence.
The areas of improvement however, is that he tends to get caught throwing off his back foot which can lead to more floated passes and less accurate throws.
Overall, I really like Plummer’s style of play and really think this is a good pick-up for the Wildcats!
At Zona Zealots, we’re excited for Will and watching him grow this year, plus we can’t wait until he finally gets to campus! Bear Down, Arizona!
