ATLANTA, GA- In the lowest scoring Super Bowl in NFL history, former Wildcat Rob Gronkowski comes up big for the New England Patriots in a win!

Tied at 3-3 with over seven minutes to play, Tom Brady would deliver a pass to Rob Gronkowski who would come up with arguably the biggest catch of the game, setting up for a touchdown that would essentially put this one away, as New England won its sixth Super Bowl by a 13-3 final.

There was lots of hype and attention entering Super Bowl LIII on Sunday evening, and rightfully so.

Arguably the greatest professional football franchise of all-time, the greatest quarterback of all-time, one of the NFL’s top offenses and a young, up-and-coming head coach. No matter which way you went, so many story lines to follow in this one!

As many were probably anticipating a high-scoring affair, alas they were probably surprised by the outcome in this one.

Mostly quiet through the first half, we didn’t get our first score until 10:29 left in the second quarter. That’s when Brady and the Patriots would go on a seven-play 39-yard drive that lasted 3:29, as New England broke the scoreless tie on a Stephen Gostkowski kick to make it 3-0.

Unfortunately, that’s the only scoring we would see in the first half, as both teams exchanged possessions much like prized-fighters in a highly anticipated boxing match.

Los Angeles would start with the ball in the second half, but five plays later and the Rams would punt to New England.

LA would finally get on the board in the third quarter, when former Pac-12 player Jared Goff would lead the Rams on a 10-play, 42-yard drive that would put the Rams on the board to tie up the game at 3-3.

That’s when the late game heroics by New England would come alive. Eventually getting the ball back with 9:43 to go, the Patriots would go on a five-play, 69-yard drive that ended in a Sony Michel two-yard touchdown run that essentially put this one away for good!

Of course that touchdown may not be possible, if it wasn’t for Gronkowski coming up with a huge catch the play before. The former Wildcat legend took a 29-yard pass from Brady to give the Patriots first-and-goal at the two-yard line.

With the win, the Patriots become Super Bowl Champions for the sixth time, and thanks to the Gronks’ six catches for 87 yards, helped pace New England to the 13-3 win.

During the game, Gronkowski also broke the Super Bowl record for most catches by a tight end in Super Bowl history!

While the Super Bowl LIII victory was Rob’s third overall championship, it could also potentially be his last. There are rumors that his myriad of injuries could put his future in jeopardy.
