The 2018-19 Arizona Hockey season is nearing an end and as the Wildcats are gearing up for the post-season, they will close the year against rival ASU!

Hockey in Arizona? You betcha! And you better be paying attention since the No. 6 Arizona Hockey team can clinch the Western Collegiate Hockey League conference title next weekend!

It’s been a great year for the Wildcats, and if you’ve been following, Arizona is having a tremendous season. As it stands, the team is 25-7 overall and 16-4 in League play.

Things have been so good for the Cats this year, they even have a chance to win the WCHL Conference Championship next week, should they beat their rival ASU. Arizona just needs to win one game against the Sun Devils in order to do so.

With just four games remaining on their schedule before the ACHA National Tournament, things are certainly heating up in the Desert.

Last season, the Wildcats got to the tournament as a 16-seed, but lost to No. 1 Minot State in the second round, despite beating Missouri State to open the tourney. This year, things look even brighter!

So far in 2018-19, the Wildcats have largely been led by transfer Bayley Marshall, as he leads the team in scoring with 25 goals and 42 assists. Last year, Marshall had played with Central Oklahoma.

Should the Wildcats advance further in the tourney this year, they are definitely going to need him as well as the potent scoring of this team! The Wildcats I feel can certainly do it, should they continue to play well like they have all season.

But first, they need to get through ASU. As it stands, the Sun Devils 7-25-1 on the year, and have not beaten the Wildcats yet this season.

Despite Arizona’s dominance, the Cats can’t overlook their competition this weekend. The series against the Sun Devils will pick back up on Friday at the Tucson Convention Center, with the puck drop being at 7:30 pm! It will also be a whiteout for those in attendance!

Arizona has a great chance to win that game and clinch the conference, so come support the Cats!
