Arizona Wildcat commits Josh Green and Nico Mannion have a legitimate chance of being the best freshman duo at Arizona.

“We’re going to win the National Championship.”  The No.11 player in the country (according to 24 7 Sports) and 2019-20 Arizona Wildcat commit Josh Green, recently had that to say while practicing for the McDonalds All-American game. His counterpart and No.10 ranked player in the country, Nico Mannion, also expressed the same goals when they take the floor at McKale Center next season.

Walk the walk and talk the talk. This duo is doing that. Their game styles and level of athleticism speaks for itself. They haven’t even played one game of college basketball, but both have accomplished a lot so far in the early stages of their basketball career. The time they play their first game at McKale Center, they will have had so much experience of playing at a high level against top competition.

More from Arizona Wildcats

Green and Mannion have both developed a very close friendship and know each others game very well. That type of chemistry makes even more of scary duo next season. What has also stand out is their commitment to Coach Sean Miller and the Arizona Wildcats.

With all the latest news happening with the college basketball scandal and the latest accusations of Nike paying Deandre Ayton’s mother, both incoming freshman have not swayed from their support of Coach Miller and look forward to bringing the Wildcats back to the top of college basketball.

Green expressed his trust and dedication to Arizona basketball during practice session at the McDonald’s All-American event:

"“You know, one of the main reasons that I committed to Arizona was I trust coach (Sean) Miller,” Green said. “I trust in coach Miller and what he’s doing. So I’m going to stick by what he’s doing and to continue to support the program and next year, I want to come in right away, and have a fun time.”"

Over the decade, this program has seen quite a number talented players. Both Green and Mannion, even though they are more then likely to be one and done, have a real chance of being one of the best incoming freshman duo to have played at Arizona. If they can take this program back to the top of college basketball and make a real deep run in March and win a national championship, they could very well be the best freshman duo ever to have played at Arizona!

These two five-star signees, plus Terry Armstrong, Zeke Nnaji and Christian Koloko, puts the Wildcats as No.1 recruiting class for next year. Wouldn’t be surprising to see this team be pre-season ranked in the Top-10 as well. As long as everyone stays healthy, this team has the size, strength and depth to be one of the best teams this program has seen in recent memory.

Bringing the Wildcats not only back to the NCAA tournament, where they belong, but getting Coach Miller to the final four and winning a National Championship is top of mind for this duo. That is a very realistic goal next season, as long as the chemistry is their among all the freshman and those returning. Just because the talent is there, doesn’t guarantee anything. That being said, next season is going to be special.

At Zona Zealots, we can not wait to see what this duo has in store for Wildcat basketball next season. Getting this program back to the top is what they have their eyes set on and we will be there every step of the journey. Bear Down, Arizona!
