At Arizona, the McDonald’s All-American and Arizona native (Phoenix), he shot a career 56.2%, never dipping below 54% in any season. He ranks No.2 in blocked shots (253). Frye arrived in Tucson as a player that would need development but ended up a star that ended up an NBA top-ten pick.

Frye played with current Lakers assistant coach Isaiah Fox and head coach Luke Walton as well as Gilbert Arenas and Jason Gardner. His last game for Arizona was in the Elite eight where his team lost to Illinois after scoring 24 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and blocking six shots.

Frye was the first college senior selected in the 2005 NBA Draft at No. 8 overall. In his rookie season, he played so well he earned a spot on the All-Rookie first team.
