It’s Game Day! The Arizona Women’s Basketball team is prepped for their Semi-Final showdown versus the visiting TCU Horned Frogs (24-10).

Who would have thought we would be here! After being picked to finish 10th in the conference in preseason, the Arizona Women’s Basketball team is having quite the season.

And what a season it’s been! In year three under head coach Adia Barnes, the Wildcats sit at 22-13, winners of four-straight and are now just a win away from the the Women’s NIT Championship game!

While it’s certainly been a journey to get here, amidst their tremendous run, it’s been a collective, team effort. We’ve certainly come a long way too as a program! For those that recall, the Wildcats finished just 6-24 last year.

Largely led by redshirt sophomore Aari McDonald and freshman Cate Reese this season, the dynamic duo will look to help propel the Cats into the finals. But first, Arizona will have to get through TCU first.

So can Arizona keep the magic going? Well, we certainly hope so! We do know that it’s been a great effort not only from the team, but from the fans as well!

If you didn’t believe Tucson was a basketball town, well, believe it. In the last four games, the Wildcats have had increasing attendance numbers, with Sunday’s win over Wyoming being their best yet!

As the Wildcats dispatched the visiting Cowboys, 7,717 Wildcat faithful descended into the empty seats at McKale, helping will the Cats to victory. It was also their best home attendance since 2016!

As Arizona takes on TCU on Wednesday night, it should be another strong showing for the Cats. Already their have been 7,200 tickets sold, with the goal being getting 10,000 into McKale!

TCU comes into this one, also playing some great basketball, and should be a tough match-up for the Cats. Having just barely missed the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year, the Horned Frogs will be in their second-straight NIT Semi-Final!

So far, they have largely been led by senior center, Jordan Moore, senior forward Amy Okonkwo and junior guard, Kianna Ray. Together, these three will certainly provide a huge challenge, especially down low. The Horned Frogs are incredibly efficient in the post, getting great production from Moore and Okonkwo mostly.
