Arizona Basketball signee Terry Armstrong won the American Family Insurance High School Basketball slam dunk championship.

Slam dunk champion! Four star Arizona basketball signee for the class of 2019-20, Terry Armstrong, won the American Family Insurance High School Basketball slam dunk championship. For those that have been following him on social media, it is quite apparent this man knows how to dunk. He has the skillset to become one of the best Wildcat dunkers within this past decade.

Over these past ten years, this program has seen many talented hi-fliers. Deandre Ayton, Rawle Alkins, Aaron Gordon, Stanley Johnson, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Nick Johnson, Kobi Simmons Allonzo Trier and Derrick Williams are some of the top Wildcat dunkers this decade. Now I know this is the type of list where some may feel I am leaving some players out. May be right. But what I am talking about here are those players that had the ability to throw down that special dunk.

More from Arizona Wildcats

Alkins Pac-12 Tournament “death dunk” , Hollis-Jefferson dunking over a 7 footer and Williams dunk against Duke in the Sweet 16,  those are special dunks. Those are moments in Wildcat history that will not be forgotten and why these players are some of the best dunkers, not just of this past decade, but of all-time.

Armstrong has the strong possibility to add himself to the list of great dunkers. He has the ability to rise up high and dunk with authority. His style of dunking will get Wildcat fans to their feet next year. Would not be surprised at all if Armstrong makes ESPN’s Top 10 at least a couple times next season.

At 6’6 and 185 pounds he also knows how to move his body in the air, making it look so easy. Besides just being a dunker, Armstrong can handle the ball and pull up from mid-range and long distance. Like all high school players, there will be a transition he will have to make  at the college level, but because of his strength and size shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Here was his winning dunk at the American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk contest:

Maybe a little sneak peak into what we may see at the Annual Red and Blue game next season. Who knows? Ira Lee did a similar dunk two years ago when he jumped over multiple players that got players and fans to their feet! All I know is that when those tickets go on sale, I will be first in line. The amount of talent incoming next season is scary and why they are already ranked as the No.1 class for the 2019-20 season.

Who doesn’t like a great dunk?! At Zona Zealots, we can not wait for all the exciting dunks that Terry Armstrong will put on display for all of the nation to see. Bear Down, Arizona!
