Former Arizona Wildcat and current player professional player in Serbia, Dusan Ristic, wins ABA League Title.

Dusan loves Tucson! Many will remember that moment as we walked off McKale Center for the last time on senior night, wearing a white shirt under his jersey showing his love and appreciate for the city of Tucson. Success has seemed to have followed Dusan Ristic as the team he currently plays for, Crvena Zvezda, just won the ABA League Title by beating Buducnost VOLI in the fifth and deciding game 97-54.

In his first season as a professional saw limited played time, he only played in 16 games and did not get a chance to play in the final series. Ristic did sign a three year contract with the Serbian team, so he’ll have more chances to get more playing time over the next couple of seasons. Similar to Arizona, when he first started didn’t see a lot of action but by his senior year he was starting.

More from Arizona Wildcats

For the season, Ristic averaged 5.1 points per game, 2.4 rebound per game and shot 54.2% from the field. In his eight appearance, he scored a season high 14 points, had five rebounds and shot 55.6% from the field. In the 16 games he played, Ristic averaged 8.3 points per game and scored a total of 82 points.

When he was given a chance to play, Ristic took full advantage of it. Listed at 7 ft and 245 lbs, he is well built center for the Serbia league.  Just a matter of getting experience and more playing time will translate into a more efficient and confident Ristic.

While at Arizona, he was known for his soft touch around the rim, but also could knock down the three. Against Utah he was a perfect 3-3 from long distance. In Serbia, he continues to show that confidence from beyond the arc:

After going undrafted and then being named to the Phoenix Suns NBA Summer League team, Ristic decided back out and take his talent overseas to his playing roots in Serbia. He played for the Crvena Zvezda youth team growing up before moving to the United States and eventually playing basketball at Arizona.
