Arizona Women’s basketball all-time scoring leader Aari McDonald was invited to try out for USA Women’s Basketball at the Pan American Games.

USA, USA. Arizona Wildcat standout and all-time leading scorer for the women’s program, Aari McDonald, is looking to add another milestone in her young basketball career. She was just recently invited to try out for USA Women’s Basketball in the Pan American Games. There are currently 36 players invited that will be competing for 12 spots.

Half of those invited to the USA Pan American Trials have already competed on the international level and have even won medals with USA Basketball. There are a lot of talented players in the trials, but McDonald stands out with her level of athleticism and toughness. Even when shots aren’t falling, she finds ways to get other players involved. No better player to represent the USA then McDonald!

More from Arizona Wildcats

Competition is nothing new for the 5 foot 7 point guard. This past season McDonald competed every game against top talent and was not intimidated at all by her opponents. She was the key reason for the team’s overall success and why they won the WNIT in front of a sellout crowd inside McKale Center.

Next season McDonald will be looking to take this team into the NCAA tournament and make some noise. This opportunity to tryout and possibly play for USA Basketball and against other top talent from all over the country and throughout the Americas will make her that much stronger. It will also prepare McDonald for her continued leadership role the Wildcats will need from her in November.

This past season, McDonald accomplished so much including becoming the all-time leading scorer, passing her coach and former Wildcat Adia Barnes. She continues to play the way she did all the way through into the WNIT Championship game, there will be plenty of more opportunities for McDonald during and after her college career. Would not be shocked to see her playing in the WNBA.

At Zona Zealots we would like to congratulate Aari McDonald on getting a chance to tryout for USA Basketball. Always great to see someone get the chance to represent their country that deserves it, especially a Wildcat. As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
