Arizona Basketball is back at the No.1 spot for the Class of 2019 with 5 commits in the top 100.

Back on top! After the recent confirmation at the Ballislife All-American event that four-star commit Terry Armstrong is committed to Arizona, Arizona basketball reclaimed it’s spot at the top of Class of 2019 according to 247 Sports. For a short while the Duke Blue Devils took over the top spot with the addition of five-star commit Cassius Stanley. As of now, the Wildcats are back where they belong, at the top!

The level of incoming talent next season ranks as one of the best the program has seen for some time. There have been previous classes with talented players, who have gone on to play at the NBA level, but this particular class stands out because they have five legitimate athletes that can make an immediate impact. Would not be surprised to see a couple of them even be part of the starting lineup.

Even though the college basketball bribery trial involving Coach Sean Miller is wrapping up, their is still the on going NCAA investigation the program has to deal with. With all the negative attention these investigations, it would have been very easy for these commits to think about possibly re-opening up their recruitment. But they haven’t and that says a lot.

All five commits have signed an NLI (National Letter of Intent) to play at Arizona, which is a binding letter. If the player decides to re-open their recruitment they would have to request a release with the university. If the university denies the release, that player would have to sit out a year. Don’t see that happening with the five that have committed. Now it is important here to note that it’s a binding letter with the university not the coach. If the coach leaves, that does not impact the NLI.

Currently all five incoming freshman are ranked within the Top 100 of 247 Sports Class of 2019 final player rankings. The highest ranked recruit on that list is Nico Mannion at No.8, who will make the greatest impact next season. Nothing to take away from the other five-star commit Josh Green, but Mannion’s style of play and point guard play making abilities will fit in perfectly into next season’s roster and will get everyone involved. Zeke Nnaji is the next highest ranked player at 39, Armstrong is at 72 and Christian Koloko is at 88.

At Zona Zealots, we are excited about the immediate future of Arizona Basketball. No.1 recruiting Class of 2019, like the sound of that! Just a matter of time before this program starts getting back to it’s winning ways. Bear Down, Arizona!

Born and raised in Tucson, AZ. Absolutely love watching Arizona Wildcats basketball. Been a fan for as long as I can remember. Also, enjoy all other Arizona Wildcat sports, including Tucson Roadrunners hockey (which I would highly recommend checking out). Graduated from the University of Arizona in 2004 with a Bachelors in Media Arts. Went on to work in television production for several years, which was certainly enjoyable. When I am not watching sports, I enjoy watching shows on Netflix as well as road cycling. Passion would be a great way to describe my perspective on Arizona Wildcat sports. Bear Down!
