TUCSON, AZ- For the second year in a row at the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships, Arizona’s Jordan Geist won the Shot Put title again!

We’re going back-to-back… championships that is! For the second straight year, Arizona’s Jordan Geist has become the Pac-12 Conferences’ shot put title holder!

After taking the Pac-12 by storm last season, Geist returned to the Pac-12 Championship this past Saturday, ready to defend his title from last year.

Despite inclement weather delaying the start of the conference championships, that didn’t slow down the big and burly hurler from getting off to a fast start!

On his first throw, Geist would have a strong throw of 20.17 meters. His second throw? Even better, coming in at 20.21 meters.

Still leading comfortably, Geist would foul on his third throw, followed by a throw of 20.10 meters on his fourth throw.

UCLA’s Dotun Ogundeji would make things close on the fourth throw, finishing with a shot put of 20.22 meters. However, Geist came right back with a match best an impressive throw of 21.08 to essentially deliver the Pac-12 Shot Put title for the second straight year.

With the throw, the sophomore became the first male Wildcat, to claim back-to-back Pac-12 shot put titles! Even more impressive, is that his throw of 21.08 meters, was the furthest toss at the Pac-12 Championships since 2010.

Geist wouldn’t quite be done on the day though either, as the sophomore would finish third in the hammer throw, helping the Arizona Men’s Track & Field to finish third at the Pac-12 Championships behind Oregon and UCLA.

Coincidentally enough, due to his strong performance this season, Geist has been named the Pac-12 Conferences Men’s Field Athlete of the Year!

That’s quite the distinction for the young Geist, who seems to have quite the bright future ahead of him! Up next will be the NCAA Tournament, where Geist hopes to make a deep run!
