Already one season down in the NBA and former Wildcat Allonzo Trier has made some noise, but now he will try to replicate his rookie success in year two!

We’re all familiar with the story by now! Former Wildcat Allonzo Trier went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, but he made owners and teams pay this past season en route to a solid rookie season.

Trier played well for the New York Knicks’ organization that was rather a mess last season, but nonetheless, he went from being a two-way player (one that can technically earn more than a G-League player, but can only play so many games in the NBA).

Still pretty early in through the year, the Knicks realized they found a hidden gem in Trier, and instead signed him to a two-year, $7 million contract, with the second year being an ‘option year’, meaning the Knicks didn’t have to pick-up his option and he could have been a free agent.

Well, on Friday, it was announced the New York Knicks decided to pick-up that second option, allowing Trier to return, where he can potentially earn up to $3.5 million!

That’s great news for a guy who’s still out to prove how NBA owners and execs got it wrong!

This past year, Trier finished averaging 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Even more impressive, is that he shot 39.4 percent from beyond the arc!

Heading into 2019-20, the opportunity to succeed will once again be there! The Knicks finished 17-65 this past year, and will have the No. 3 draft pick in the upcoming draft.

With returning players like Kevin Knox, Dennis Smith, DeAndre Jordan, etc. it’ll be interesting to see how things pan out and see what kind of opportunity Trier will have.

I for one, feel like he’s going to easily replicate, if not improve on what he did last year! He’s a scorer, and scorers thrive in the NBA. It’s a league intended for scorers.

I think we could see the best Trier yet! Heck, when he has games like this… I think you can’t help but be excited about his future!
