No. 19 – Arizona hands Arizona State their first loss of the season

Who: Pac-12 Conference/ Rivalry Match-up between No. 17 Arizona and No. 3 ASU

When: 12/30/2017

Where: McKale Center (Tucson, AZ)

Game stats: Deandre Ayton and Allonzo Trier would finish the game with 23 points each, meanwhile, Dusan Ristic would finish with 12 of his own!

The Arizona State Sun Devils headed into McKale Center undefeated and No. 3 in the country, looking poised to beat their bitter rival on the road. That did not happen! Deandre Ayton and Allonzo Trier had other plans, as they both led the team with 23 points each, defeating the Sun Devils 84-78.

At that time, the Wildcats were ranked No. 17 and it was one of those rare occasions in which the Sun Devils were ranked higher than them. They would go onto to sweep the Sun Devils that season, also winning on the road 77-70 on February 15th.

No better feeling than beating the Sun Devils, especially when they thought they had a chance!
