Certainly an amazing, but difficult feat to accomplish, seven former Wildcats (players and coaches) who once dazzled fans in Tucson, will soon have their place forever cemented in Arizona Athletic history!

Those seven individuals are;

  • Joan Bonvicini | Women’s Basketball | 1991-2008
  • Antoine Cason | Football | 2004-2007
  • May Mickelson | Rifle | 1961-1965
  • Stephen Mikulic | Baseball | 1970-1971
  • Taryne Mowatt | Softball | 2005-2008
  • Dan Schneider | Baseball | 1961-1962
  • Alison Walshe | Women’s Golf | 2006-2008

According to the University of Arizona, the newest class will officially be introduced on Thursday, September 5 in a ceremony at the Westin La Paloma, and will then be recognized Saturday night at halftime during Arizona Football’s home opener versus Northern Arizona on September 7.

Getting to the Hall of Fame of course takes a great deal of accomplishments to be had and is no easy feat!

As for coaches, a few things have to be met!

  1. Did the coach render extraordinary service and leadership to the athletic
    program?
  2. Records of the coach should be so outstanding that there would be little question
as to the qualifications necessary for induction.
  3. Career record.
  4. National titles.
  5. National top-20 rankings.
  6. Development of program.
  7. National achievements, such as, coach of the year, president of national coaches
