Arizona Football experienced the full highs and lows within recruiting this past week, losing a commit, but also gaining a three-star defensive end.

Who loves football recruiting? Well, certainly not Arizona Football fans! It’s always a tough cycle to follow, but after the Wildcats lost a big commit in the class of 2020 earlier this week, luckily Arizona picked up a much-needed commitment!

Meet the latest 2020 commit, in California defensive end, Dion Wilson. A standout out player in the class, Wilson hails from Orange Vista High School in Perris, CA.

Rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 1,351 player in the class, Wilson’s addition is a big one! Why? Well, besides Texas-based defensive end Robert Wooten de-committing earlier in the week, Wilson addresses a HUGE area of need… the defensive line.

Alreasy holding offers from Arizona, New Mexico, Arizona State and Hawaii among others, Wilson felt it was time to shut it down, officially committing to the Wildcats late on Friday afternoon.

Again, disregard the star rating, and look at the offer sheet, and from first glance, he looks like a solid prospect. Aside from him being at the ever-important position of defensive line, Wilson has got great size coming in!

Standing 6-feet-5.5-inches and over 250 pounds, Wilson certainly checks out there. What’s also to like about Wilson is his versatility and overall athleticism. This past season while with the Coyotes, he mostly lined up on offense, playing at various positions, but it’s his defense that should be getting the attention.

While Wilson put up some solid stats, catching three passes for 62 yards and a touchdown according to Maxpreps, he will play defense at Arizona.

On offense, Wilson would line up at tight end, mostly being used as a blocker, but would occasionally get the ball in the open field and absolutely punish the defense.

Where he projects at the division one level however, is along the defensive line and rightfully so. From first glimpse, the kid is strong, and I mean REALLY strong.

He’s an absolute bull of an edge rusher and has a knack for getting to the football. Wilson is quick, but not blazingly fast, while also being quite light on his feet, rather than lumbering to the football.

You can see the talent he has while on defense!
