We’re getting closer to the start of the Arizona Football season, and as we prepare for 2019, a few Wildcats are getting some much deserved recognition!

Heading into season, Arizona Football hasn’t quite had the same hype thus far like they did in 2018. In an otherwise quiet off-season, the Wildcats seem to be flying under the radar and perhaps that’s a good thing!

However, as we head into 2019, there is at least a little buzz around the program, with a few Wildcats landing on some prestigious, preseason award watch lists.

So far, the players gaining the much deserved attention for 2019 are; Colin Schooler (Bednarik and Butkus), J.J. Taylor (Maxwell Award and Doak Walker Award), Khalil Tate (Maxwell Award and O’Brien Award), Tony Fields II (Butkus Award), Josh McCauley (Rimington Award) and Bryce Wolma (Mackey Award).

It’s a great thing too, despite the Wildcats having a disappointing end to 2018!

However, make now mistake, Arizona still has some good players that can certainly get the Wildcats back on track this season, and if the Wildcats are indeed going to turn things around in 2019, these are some of the key players that are going to help the Cats get it done.

Plus, if there is one thing that’s for certain, the rest of the Pac-12 and college football need to watch out! Even though the Wildcats have been picked to finish fifth in the Pac-12 South, Arizona has the tools to surprise some people this year.

With the start of the 2019 just weeks away, Arizona began preparations for the year, by kicking off the fall camp on Friday, and the focus is to get better and surprise the conference!

As for coach Kevin Sumlin, he’s just looking for more consistency, and seemed to address that at Media Day. “Last season was not what we wanted, players or coaches, but I think if you look back at the inconsistency of how we played last season, that was revealed in the record… These guys have accepted that challenge. Our coaching staff has accepted that challenge, and I’m really proud of how these guys have responded.”

For those he may have missed Sumlin’s Media Day press conference, here it is!
