With days until the start of the 2019 Arizona Football season, wide receiver Thomas Marcus, Jr. will now transfer to Montana State.

Transfers happen at all schools, but unfortunately for the Arizona Football team, the Wildcats will lose another as it was announced that receiver Thomas Marcus, Jr. would be leaving the program just days ago.

Now just a redshirt freshman, Marcus has unfortunately decided to leave the program, and will now be heading to Montana State to play for the Division 1AA Bobcats.

Originally a commit in the 2018 recruiting class, many were hoping for big things from Marcus who seemed to show nice potential in the 2019 Spring game.

Thomas of course did not play in the 2018 season, as the true freshman was redshirted, patiently awaiting his turn.

However, things can change very quickly in the world of college football, and it appears that with the depth that the Wildcats have at receiver, perhaps him seeing playing time was going to be a challenge this season.

Hard to blame him, since I think if we were all in his position, we too would want to be somewhere where we would have the opportunity to play.

While the loss of Thomas is unfortunate, Arizona should still be in a fairly solid position at receiver, as Arizona will likely rely heavily on guys like; Cedric Peterson, Stanley Berryhill IIIJalen “Boobie” Curry, Tre Adams, Jamarye Joiner, Jalen Johnson and Drew Dixon among others.

The biggest thing heading into this season for the Wildcats’ receiving corp, is the unproven success at the position.

As it stands, out of that group, Berryhill III and Peterson are the only ones with any recorded stats. Last season, the two combined for 32 receptions for 486 yards and six touchdowns.

As for Thomas, he will have a great chance to do some amazing things in Bozeman, Montana, and we wish him nothing but the best! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
