FOXBOROUGH, MA – Just days after being signed by the New England Patriots, former Wildcat star Scooby Wright was cut by the team.

Over the past few years, it’s definitely been an up and down journey for former Wildcat star Scooby Wright, especially since he’s left the University of Arizona.

Originally an underrated and under-recruited player from Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, CA, who knew Scooby would have quite the journey!

He came to Tucson with Arizona being his only major offer, and with a bit of hard work and determination, he instantly found college stardom.

In his three seasons with the Wildcats, Wright totaled 270 tackles (159 solo) with 43.5 tackles for loss, with 17 sacks, an interception, a pass deflection, five forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

He would then leave Arizona, only to be drafted by the Cleveland Browns, being drafted in the seventh round with the 250th overall pick.

Wright would never make an official, regular season appearance with the Browns and would ultimately end up with the Arizona Cardinals for just two seasons, compiling seven tackles (five solo) in 13 games played.

He would then make a brief stint with the Arizona Hotshots, a team in the now defunct Alliance of American Football League.

Fast forward to just last week, and Wright signed with the New England Patriots, appearing in the final pre-season game. In his lone pre-season game, Wright appeared in 49 snaps with the Patriots, totaling two tackles and two sacks.

Well just days after appearing in New England, the Patriots have officially cut Wright as the team announced their 53-man roster.

For Wright, who knows what the future holds, but it’s possible he could be end up on a practice squad, and who knows, maybe he can eventually find a spot on a roster somewhere.
