TUCSON, AZ – Arizona Football (2-1) has a huge day, rushing for over 300 yards in their huge, 28-14 win over Texas Tech (2-1).

It was a perfect evening for a ‘White Out’ in the Old Southwest, and who knew the Arizona Football team was going to channel a bit of the Wildcats of old, by using a powerful run game, and a stifling defense… yes you heard that right, STIFLING defense.

In a game that not many had thought the Wildcats would win coming in, the Wildcats showed up in major way, proving a lot of their doubters, including myself, wrong in their 28-14 win over Texas Tech!

However, it didn’t start all that great. From the beginning, the Arizona offense looked stagnant, taking a whole quarter before they finally found any sort of rhythm, where Khalil Tate was able to find Stanley Berryhill III on a 12-yard pass to make it 7-7.

Still waiting/ anticipating for Texas Tech to explode offensively, it never came as the Arizona defensive stranglehold got tighter and tighter.

Just 13 plays later, and we saw what many of us had long been waiting for, an 84-yard touchdown run from Tate.

Khalil would seemingly channel his older self, where he found a seam in the defense, taking it to the house. However, after a bad hold on the extra point, Lucas Havrisik would miss the kick to make it 13-7 with 8:35 to go in the half.

Again using a stifling defense, Arizona would hold the Red Raiders scoreless for the rest of the half, holding on to a six-point lead.

Texas Tech would regain the lead in the third quarter after a McLane Mannix touchdown to make it 14-13.

But luckily, that lead didn’t last long, as Arizona would go on a 14-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that would be capped by a 1-yard Gary Brightwell touchdown run to give Arizona the lead at 20-14.

Fast forward to the fourth quarter with Arizona still leading, they would then have the daunting task of trying to hold on for the win with 11:08 to go. However, it wasn’t going to be easy.

With the ball on their own one, the Wildcats would go 99 yards in 13 plays, scoring on another Brightwell touchdown, absolutely ripping the hearts out of the Raiders to eventually secure the win. The drive would eat up over seven minutes, where Arizona didn’t run a single passing play!

Leading 28-14, Arizona’s defense would once again come up big, forcing a turnover on downs to secure the huge win!

With the win, Arizona improves to 2-1 on the season, and will now have a week off to prepare against a reeling UCLA at home!

As for the Cats, this is a huge win, and definitely could provide a bit of momentum, so long as they continue to put forth this kind of effort! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
