The Arizona Football team went on the road and got another big win, this time behind the arm of Khalil Tate. We look at his career numbers thus far!

The Wildcats are 4-1 to start the year, and while there is plenty of credit to go around in Arizona’s hot start, we also must not forget the solid play of senior quarterback, Khalil Tate so far.

If you’ve been paying attention to some of the reactions of fans and talking heads, some have been calling for more play or the potential start of freshman Grant Gunnell. While that’s not to knock Gunnell who played well last week, Tate hasn’t done anything to make us doubt his abilities, or want us to give him the hook!

At Zona Zealots, we’ve been huge supporters of Tate and after roughly two-and-a-half years of starting, we thought we would break down his numbers in case people were unaware of just what he brings to the table.

First off, Tate is 12-12 as a starter, which isn’t great, but also isn’t terrible either. It’s also hard to put the entire loss on a single player, but nonetheless, quarterbacks get the most heat and are credited the most in a loss.

But that’s just surface level, and isn’t a true indication of his ability as a football player. Secondly, you got to look his stats, and again through 33 games appeared in, his numbers are quite solid. If you or anyone says otherwise, you’re just being silly.

Through those 33 games, Tate is 380 of 646 passing, with 5,452 yards (which currently is 9th overall in school history, with the chance to move up). He also has 52 touchdowns (2nd overall in school history) to just 25 interceptions.

In addition to that, he has 2,133 yards (the only Arizona QB to have over 2,000 rushing yards in his career), with 17 rushing touchdowns.

Statistically speaking, he is one of the highest producing quarterbacks of all-time at Arizona, yet we see a lot of criticism, why?

I understand Tate has his imperfections, heck, no college quarterback is perfect. Additionally, I also don’t think any rational fan is out there saying he’s going to be the next NFL super star either.

However, what we are saying, is that statistically speaking, he’s one of the best to ever play at Arizona, and fans need to appreciate all that he’s accomplished!

At Zona Zealots, we’re happy to see the Cats victorious yesterday and hope they can continue their strong play as of late! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
