Arizona Football is recruiting defensive players heavily for 2020
Looking to make more moves to the Arizona Football recruiting class for 2020, the Wildcats are offering quite a few defensive players.
We’re inching through the 2019 Arizona Football season which means we’re also getting closer and closer to signing day for the Wildcats.
As it stands, the Wildcats have just 13 commits in the class of 2020 so far and currently rank 74th overall according to 247Sports. Arizona is surely not finished with their recruiting and it’ll be interesting to see how this staff will finish out this class.

Nonetheless, if you’ve been following the recruiting news, the Wildcats have been a bit patient with some recruits and the class certainly is still forming and developing, so it’s still early to write this group off.
Also if you’ve noticed, the Wildcats have been looking to beef up that defensive unit a bit, and have sent out a bevy of offers in the last 24 hours, sending official offers to three players.
Meet defensive linemen, Shontrail Key, a 6-foot-7 250-pound defensive lineman from Chicago, IL, Jamoi Hodge, a 6-foot-2 225-pound junior college linebacker from Independence Community College, and Anthony Shipton, a 6-foot-5 290-pound junior college defensive lineman from Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA.
These are certainly solid offers as all three come in a bit under the radar, but are some big, talented players the Wildcats could use next season.
All three have size and would immediately help bolster the Wildcats’ depth.
With Shontrail, he’s a HUGE kid with upside. He moves well, is a load up front and plays with a bit of a mean streak the Wildcats could use!
Check his highlights here:
With Anthony Shipton, he’s big, talented and strong. At Cerritos, he tends to draw a lot of double teams, but certainly puts great pressure in the opposing backfield.
He has a great motor, shows relentless pursuit of opposing players and would definitely help the Wildcats’ defensive line.

Lastly is Hodge, who is a talented and skilled linebacker from Independence College in Independence, KS.
Already possessing ideal size for a collegiate linebacker, there’s a lot to like about Hodge. He’s fast, aggressive and has a tremendous motor.
Hodge shows great directional speed, being able to drop into coverage, but also is able to pursue the ball carrier, packing a mean punch in his tackles. If he were to come to Arizona, he’d be a nice addition.

At Zona Zealots, we’re excited about the recent offers and are hoping for big things from the Wildcats! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
