The 2019 season has been a disastrous one, after starting the season 4-1, Arizona Football has dropped five-straight games and likely won’t make a bowl.

After a surprising 4-1 start to the season, things were looking promising for the Arizona Football program who finished 5-7 last year in Kevin Sumlin’s first season with the Wildcats. However, things have not been so pleasant in Tucson since then.

However, we must note that the schedule has gotten significantly tougher since that start, and it’s been evident there is a serious lack size, athleticism and preparedness in those losses. Perhaps more importantly, Arizona has severe lack of confidence in the midst of a five-game losing streak.

So just how bad has it been? Well, in those five losses, Arizona has been outscored 223-116. That’s brutal!

Things don’t get any easier either with No. 7 Utah coming to town this next weekend, and may perhaps have an even better defense than the Ducks.

With the Wildcats likely to be out of bowl contention, the only way to likely salvage this season in the eyes of fans is to beat ASU.

It’s worth noting, that the Sun Devils have won seven of the last 10 match-ups, so fans are certainly getting more anxious and frustrated with the state of this program in recent years.

With ASU having won the last two, and of course Arizona blowing a 19-point fourth quarter lead last season, winning this game is more crucial than ever.

Let’s face it, the Wildcats are likely not making a bowl game, so the Territorial Cup has to be our bowl game. The only way to make fans forgive the some of the hardships of recent is winning this game.

That’s why this has to be the most important game for the Wildcats now. The 2019 season is virtually over, and to steal a reference from the highly-profitable Marvel movie, the Avengers, we are in the end game.

Nothing else matters at this point, and if Sumlin and the Wildcats want to at least receive some favor from the fans, this is the game they need to find a way to win and end the season on a high note!

At Zona Zealots, we’re hoping the Cats can end the season on a high note by beating ASU. As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
