TUCSON, AZ – Already just five games into the season, the Arizona Women’s Basketball team (5-0) continues its hot start on the year.

It’s been quite the start to the 2019-20 season for the Arizona Women’s Basketball team! Days after throttling No. 22 Texas on the road, the Wildcats returned to McKale, putting together a heck of a performance in their 83-48 victory over Prairie View A&M.

Coming into the week fresh off that win over Texas, many were hoping the Cats would be ranked this week. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, but nonetheless the focus has still got to be on the court and opponents at hand.

And so far, the Cats are doing a great job worrying about the outside distractions, and are playing terrific basketball.

On Wednesday morning, they returned to action to take on Prairie View A&M, and from the start it was a dominant showing by the Cats.

Of course getting great contributions from redshirt junior Aari McDonald, the Cats jumped out to a commanding, 42-22 lead at the half. Fresh off being named the Pac-12 Player of the Week, McDonald would end her day with 15 points, 14 assists and nine rebounds.

However, as Arizona continued it’s strong play into the second half, it was perhaps Cate Reese that may have stole the show, as the sophomore big finished the game with an impressive 20 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and a block.

Freshman Helena Pueyo would have quite the performance in this one too, as the Spanish guard would finish the game with 12 points of her own, while Sam Thomas would also add 10 as well in this one!

Arizona would eventually pace themselves to the 35-point win, improving to 5-0 on the season! More impressively, with the win, this is actually Arizona’s 11th straight victory which dates back to last season when they beat Northwestern in the NIT Championship!

The Wildcats will have the next few days off before returning to action on Sunday when they travel to Missoula, Montana to take on the Montana Grizzlies.

Should Arizona win, perhaps they will have a good chance at landing in the Top 25!
