If the TBT Tournament were to have an all Arizona Basketball team, would our former Wildcats dominate in that Tournament?

Arizona Basketball is truly a ‘Players Program’. Over the course of its history, numerous players have come through Tucson, making it the program that it is, helping in continuing to build on its already solid reputation.

Nonetheless, to the outside observer, when people think Arizona Athletics, I imagine they typically think basketball too.

While Arizona is considered to be one of the best NBA-producing programs, what many are likely forgetting, is that a number of former players have also gone on to have tremendous careers on in secondary professional leagues, as well as having gone on to be successful off the court too!

Well, on Wednesday afternoon, TBT, the host of the annual tournament that features non-NBA players posed an interesting question via Social Media. The account asked its followers that between Arizona, Oregon, Washington and USC, who would be able to put together the best TBT Alumni team.

Interested in the discussion, we at Zona Zealots got to thinking as well, trying to come up with a team who we believe would make for a great and competitive TBT all-Arizona team!

Since we’re obviously biased, and feel our former Wildcats would easily make for the best team, we decided to make our list of players who would NEED to be on this ‘hypothetical team’ and why!

First off, we got to start by adding Kyle Fogg. For those that aren’t aware, Fogg has been a terrific international player, and has also made a name for himself in these TBT Tournaments, having won four-straight championships already with his team(s) from 2015-2018.

Can’t help but think that kind of experience would be incredibly beneficial for this tournament, considering he’s been there and has performed at a high level.

Additionally, we would love to see players like; Derrick Williams, Gabe York, Nick Johnson, Mark Lyons, Brandon Ashley, Dusan Ristic and Kaleb Tarzcewski on this team as well! All of which are having very solid professional careers overseas.

A few have been in the NBA already and have competed at the highest level. That kind of experience is incredibly valuable and would certainly make for a very talented Arizona team.

With that kind of line-up and rotation, we can’t help but think (albeit a bit biasedly), that this would be a terrific group very capable of winning the tournament!
