While 2019 is almost over, and the Holidays among us again, this is what I want for Christmas this year, the Arizona Athletics edition.

It’s Christmas time again, which means it should be one of the most enjoyable times of year for many. As we finish our baking, our gift shopping and wrapping, I thought what better way to celebrate this holiday as Arizona Athletics fans, by creating a sort of wish list!

That’s right, a wish list that is entirely Arizona Athletics inspired that could truly give us fans not only a great holiday, but a great start to 2020 and perhaps even beyond even these were to all come true!

After all, as much as we all love that freshly knitted sweater or matching pair of socks, but why not have something a bit more practical this holiday season?

That’s why at Zona Zealots, we’ve come up with a sort of Christmas/ Holiday wish list centered around our beloved Wildcats! (*Note: keep in mind, these are wises that are pretty realistic and obtainable, although we’d love for every team to win a National Championship).

Arizona Football: For the program to find a solid defensive line coach and finish out this recruiting class strong.

Kevin Sumlin undoubtedly will enter 2020 on the hot seat, so him getting this thing turned around and on the right track to make a bowl game for next season would be a great Holiday gift!

Arizona Basketball: For the team to start playing to their potential. After losses to Baylor, Gonzaga and St. John’s, Arizona fans are growing frustrated at the play of this team that was so heavily hyped coming into the year.

Additionally, we wish that this team can play to the level that will make them a dangerous team come tournament time, and will provide that seemingly elusive Final Four and perhaps even a dare we say a National Championship.

Arizona Women’s Basketball: Our wish this holiday season is to see the Cats continue their momentum from their miraculous non-conference run into conference play. After a very hot, 11-0 start to the year, the real test begins on December 29, when Arizona takes on rival ASU.

Additionally, we hope for the continued growth of the program and that this team makes it to the NCAA Tournament!

Arizona Softball: Although last season didn’t turn out the way many had hoped, Arizona at least returned to the proverbial promised land by getting to Omaha for the first time in nine years. This group returns a large contingency of talent from last year and should have a very deep and talented group heading into 2020.

For this holiday season, we are wishing that the Cats can return to Omaha and bring back the hardware!

Arizona Baseball: Our wish for the Baseball team is for them to get back on track. The results of the past two seasons have been rather unfortunate, with the Wildcats just barely missing the post-season both years.

The team made a great hire in pitching coach Nate Yeskie, now, if only the team can right the ship and get things turned around to finally make it to the post-season. Arizona undoubtedly has the talent, but we wish for this team to get back to its prior dominance.

Arizona Athletics: Lastly, for the Athletics department as a whole to find success across the board, have a good year of revenue and as always, beat those guys up North and come away with the Territorial Series Cup.
