With the 2020 recruiting class only about half way filled out, here are five players thus far who could have an immediate impact for Arizona Football!

We’re inching closer and closer to the 2020 recruiting class for the Arizona Football team being finalized. With nearly two months until signing day, there is still work left to be done.

Now it’s worth noting, that as a true freshman or even a junior college transfer, it’s difficult to crack the rotation and get playing time quickly, nonetheless coaches will always do their best to not only bring in the best talent, but the right talent.

For Arizona, nothing could be further from the truth, especially right now as Kevin Sumlin and this program tries to turn around their misfortunes. Especially after going bowl less in back-to-back seasons.

This off-season will especially be crucial, not only as Sumlin brings in a new defensive coordinator, but also tries to round out this class by bringing in the right talent that can hopefully make an immediate impact and get this thing turned around.

As it stands, the Wildcats have the 69th ranked overall class according to 247Sports, with 15 commitments in the class, and 12 of them already being signed. Out of that group, here are the five we feel could make an immediate impact.

Jalen John – The running back from Lake Oswego, OR comes in as one of the higher-rated players for the Wildcats and for good reason. He stands an impressive 5-feet-11-inches and 180 pounds. I would say from a physicality and college-preparedness standpoint, he’s one of the most game-ready freshmen coming in.

With J.J. Taylor leaving for the NFL, this pick is seemingly one of the more reasonable selections. Granted the Cats still do have Gary Brightwell, Bam Smith and Nathan Tilford, however, as we saw, the Wildcats like to use a large rotation of running backs, and with no single player being head and shoulders above the rest, Jalen is an easy choice here.

Roberto Miranda – One of the lesser known players in the class, again just physically speaking this is another player I feel that can make an impact. Roberto is a 6-foot-3-inch, 225-pound so from that alone he very much looks the part of being a collegiate-level player.

Additionally, he’s got a unique blend of size and speed. He’s comes in as a tight end/ receiver combo, and with the receiving corp that way it is, I could see Roberto possibly making an early impact and he’s one to keep an eye on.

Majon Wright – Much like our last point previously being made, the Wildcats receiving corp is pretty unsettled, and with Majon being a bit of an under-the-radar player, he’s going to add immediate size and play-making ability for Arizona.

At 6-feet-3-inches and 200-pounds, he certainly looks the part of a collegiate-level player, and should he be able to adapt quickly, I would think Majon could have an immediate impact for the Wildcats. Either way, Arizona adding more size could provide another red zone and down field threat!

Stacey Marshall, Jr. – So far the only junior college player in the class, again, he’s one of the most physically ready to make an impact early on. Also, with Bryce Wolma really being the only tight end on roster, he will help to bolster this group and provide depth

Stacey is a big target that could lend himself not only as a good red zone threat, but he’s also a good blocking tight end, and that could be huge for Arizona.

There’s no doubt the Cats like to run the football, should they incorporate more usage of the tight end as well, Stacey will likely have an impact.

Tyler Loop – One of the safer choices in the class, Tyler is a player I can see helping Arizona’s special teams quickly, and boy do they need all they help they can get!

This past year was seemingly a disaster for Arizona, especially for the special teams unit. Tyler might have the opportunity to fix some things.

He can take on both kicking and punting duties, and while Arizona has a strong leg with Lucas Havrisik already, more competition and depth is always a good thing. Plus, I surely can’t see him doing any worse on punts than what Arizona had this year! With that said, I would look for him to make an early impact!
