With just a week until signing day, the Arizona Football team lost a commitment in the class of 2020 in Texas-based offensive lineman, Cedric Melton.

The Arizona Football team is in crunch time as National Signing Day is just one week from today. With more movement expected in the class, on Wednesday the Wildcats did lose a commitment from Texas-based offensive lineman, Cedric Melton.

Melton as many of you may recall, is the three-star lineman form Klein Cain High School in Houston, TX that had committed to the Wildcats back in June of 2019.

Well, prior to Wednesday, there was some belief that Melton’s commitment to Arizona may have been shaky, especially with the recent push of Ole Miss entering his recruitment.

Perhaps coming as not much of a surprise, Melton took to social media on Wednesday evening, announcing that he would be de-committing from Arizona.

This is what the Houston-based tackle had to say:

“I am thankful and honored for the opportunity to play at the next level for Coach Sumlin, coaching staff and with the Wildcat team. I have the utmost respect for each of you. After much prayer, discussions, and consideration I have decided to decommit. No love lost, Thank you for everything #Beardown Cedric Melton”

And no love lost is right. While losing Melton hurts, at the end of the day, this is college football and players come and go. The reality is, these are 17-to-18-year-old kids who are making some pretty big decisions that will impact them for the next four-to-five years, and they ultimately have to make the best choice for themselves.

As for Melton, he felt his talents were best suited elsewhere and we wish him nothing but the best.

For Arizona, we got to move on and hope we can continue to find more talented individuals like Melton and hopefully end this class strong!
