On a busy signing day across the country, the Arizona Football team picked up another commitment with the addition of Edric Whitley.

Arizona Football has made some movement for the recruiting class of 2020 of recent, and on National Signing Day the Wildcats got a surprise commitment from Texas-based corner, Edric Whitley.

On Wednesday morning, they found one in former UNLV commit, Whitley, as Edric made his announcement via social media. Rated a three-star corner in the class, this is a great addition, as Edric also had offers from Miami and Ole Miss as well.

Standing 5-feet-11-inches and 160 pounds, he has solid size for a corner, that will undoubtedly get bigger, but even more impressive is his speed.

For those that don’t know, Whitley is a two-sport star at Weiss High School in Pflugerville, TX, where he also runs track, participating in the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, triple jump, 4×100 relay and 4×200 relay.

That sort of speed and athleticism will be highly coveted to have in the secondary that is in need of more depth and play makers like Edric.

When it comes to playing, he is a very solid coverage corner. As noted, we talked about his speed which will be incredibly beneficial, but he has great instincts and can cover a large portion of the field.

This past year, Edric had 32 tackles, 15 pass break-ups, two forced fumbles, five interceptions with three of those interceptions being returned for a touchdown!

Coming in, he will help compliment Lorenzo Burns in addition to guys like; Chris Roland-Wallace, Bobby Wolfe and McKenzie Barnes.

His addition alone will help bolster that group, and provides Arizona with yet another defensive player in this class!

He’s definitely a solid addition and is a great replacement to Oywak. His film should surely get fans excited.
