TUCSON, AZ – After a rather long off-season, the Arizona Baseball team will finally return to action this weekend against Albany to kick off the season!

It’s been a long off-season for the Arizona Baseball team. Despite the Wildcats finishing the season on a 10-game win streak, Arizona ultimately fell short in making the postseason for the second straight year!

Luckily, it’s a brand new season which means new expectations and goals for the program, especially as hopes are high heading into the 2020 season!

For starters, if you have been paying attention you would have seen that highly touted pitching coach Nate Yeskie left Oregon State this last off-season, and has since come to Tucson to become an assistant for the Wildcats!

The addition of Yeskie alone is huge for the Cats, as the biggest struggles for Arizona these past couple of seasons have mostly on the mound.

Heading into 2020, Arizona will likely have a strong offense, especially with players like; Austin Wells, Matthew Dyer, Dayton Dooney and Donta Williams most notably returning.

The biggest question is what this pitching rotation will look like. If Arizona is able to put together a competitive group on the mound, the sky is certainly the limit for the Wildcats.

Either way, we will know soon enough when Arizona kicks off the 2020 season against Albany this weekend!

The 2020 season will kick off on Friday at Hi Corbett Field, with first pitch being at 6 pm.

Arizona’s Garrett Irvin will get the start in game one for the Cats, meanwhile game two is also set for 6 pm with Quinn Flanagan on the mound.

The series finale will then commence on Sunday with first pitch set for 10 am!
