TUCSON, AZ – Continuing his strong play in the 2019-20 season, Arizona freshman Zeke Nnaji was named the Pac-12’s Freshman of the Week!
The Wildcats had a good week this past weekend, especially as they beat both Cal and Stanford on the road! Arizona freshman Zeke Nnaji was certainly a big part of the teams’ success, as he was named the Pac-12’s Freshman of the Week!
Needing to rebound after their bad loss to UCLA at home the week prior, Arizona desperately needed victories against Cal and Stanford, and luckily for us, the team, and especially our star freshman from Minnesota answered!
Arizona Wildcats
Nnaji would finish his week by averaging 21.0 points on 61 percent shooting (14-23) with 8.0 rebounds, and because of his play, the Wildcats were able to sweep the Bay Area. Interestingly enough, with the wins, the Wildcats are now the only Pac-12 program with two road sweeps so far this season.
As for Zeke, he continues to surprise many, as the freshman came in with a lot of potential, and has shown his value so far, earning his fourth ‘Freshman of the Week Award’ this season. With the distinction, Nnaji now ties Washington’s Isaiah Stewart for the most awards in conference.
As a recap, through the 25 games (all starts) we’ve seen of Nnaji, the freshman is averaging 16.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game, and has been a big part of Arizona’s success.
If the Wildcats have any hopes of going deep in March, Nnaji is going to have to continue to play at the dominant level we’ve seen from him thus far!
Either way, this is awesome to see, we know we can continue to expect some great things from him, especially as the season progresses!
At Zona Zealots, we’re excited for Zeke and can’t wait to see what else he can do this year! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
