Former Wildcat Sterling Lewis passes away due to health complications
In tragic news surrounding the Arizona Football program, the Wildcats have lost a former player in Sterling Lewis, who passed away due to health complications.
It’s a tough day for Arizona Football fans everywhere, especially as the Wildcats have tragically lost one of their own in former linebacker, Sterling Lewis.
If you had seen in the news recently, Lewis had been going through some recent health ailments, and according to his GoFundMe Page, he had been “battling the flu, which turned to pneumonia, leading to additional health complications.”

As a result of all this, Lewis was hospitalized, where he was then put into a medically induced coma, which the hope was for him to be able to battle back and recover.
Well on Thursday, it became public that Lewis’ health actually took a turn for the worst, as he tragically lost his life due to complications from Valley Fever.
Just 32 years old, Lewis will leave behind his wife and two kids, and the loss certainly comes at an awful time. And the tragic of passing of Sterling has rocked the Arizona Football community, leaving many to take to social media to give their thoughts.
According to GOAZCATS editor Matt Moreno, Arizona head coach Kevin Sumlin even made a statement regarding Sterling Lewis, “The entire football program would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Sterling’s family and friends. His contagious passion, energy and enthusiasm will be missed.”
A former standout at Copperas Cove High School, Sterling played for the Wildcats from 2008-09 after transferring from Blinn College, appearing 23 games for Arizona, finishing his career with 98 tackles (63 solo), with nine tackles for loss, three sacks, an interception, two pass deflections and a forced fumble.
