With the 2019-20 Arizona Basketball season officially over, the Wildcats turn their focus to recruiting, including Wichita State’s Jamarius Burton.

It is going to be one hell of an off-season for the Arizona Basketball team. Less than a week since the NCAA decided to shut down the 2019-20 season, the Wildcats will turn its focus to Jamarius Burton and their recruiting class.

For those that need an introduction, Burton is the combo guard who starred at Independence High School in Charlotte, NC, before heading to Wichita State to play for the Shockers the past two seasons.

Well, after just two seasons under head coach Gregg Marshall, Burton has announced his intent to transfer, and naturally that are a number of schools inquiring. One of those schools is Arizona!

This really shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, considering the Wildcats have just two commitments in the class of 2020, and the team will likely see departures from; Nico Mannion, Josh Green and Zeke Nnaji, in addition to the departures of seniors; Chase Jeter, Stone Gettings and Dylan Smith.

That’s quite the slew of players to replace. Granted, the Wildcats are adding Dalen Terry, Ben Mathurin, and will have Jordan Brown AND James Akinjo eligible, but there is still more room for additions on the roster!

That’s why this off-season, I would expect Arizona and Sean Miller to hit the transfer market hard, and finding that blend of seasoned veterans and talented, incoming freshmen!

A player like Burton would certainly fall under that prototypical player that would be a great target for Arizona.

A solid player who could either develop into a starter or at worst be a very good bench player. At Wichita State this past season, Burton appeared in 30 games, starting in 24 for the Shockers, averaging 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

I don’t know about you, but those are some solid numbers I wouldn’t mind having in Tucson, especially if Burton were to come here!

Either way, at Zona Zealots, we can’t wait to see how things shake out for the Cats and are hopeful we could add a talented player like Jamarius! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
