Despite the sports world essentially coming to a halt, the NFL Free Agency stays hot, with Former Wildcat Nick Foles making news as he heads to Chicago!

It may be a slow day in the world of sports with no games or action going on, but nonetheless, there is still news brewing, especially as the NFL Free Agency is underway. The latest news if you were unaware is in regards to Former Wildcat Nick Foles.

Before we get to all that, first a small refresher…

As you may recall, Nick signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars for a staggering $88 million for four years last off-season. And with big hopes and goals in mind for Foles, it was certainly one of the most headline-catching signings from last season.

However as we all witnessed last year, things didn’t quite go as planned, especially as Foles would leave in the middle of the first game of the season with a broken clavicle.

He would return later in the year, but either way, it just never seemed to pan out the way many had thought or hoped as the Jaguars limped to a 6-10 finish to the season.

But now, it seems as if Foles will get ano ther chance and a fresh start as he now heads to Chicago.

Making news in the free agency world on Wednesday afternoon, was that Nick was traded by the Jaguars to the Bears for the No. 140 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

That’s quite the trade, considering Foles was the presumptive starter for the Jaguars, and was just a year removed from signing that huge contract with the Jaguars.

As it stands now, it’s unclear just how he will be utilized, or if the Bears intend to make him the started at quarterback. Especially as they still have Mitch Trubisky on the roster, who was drafted as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Either way, this is in our biased opinion, a very solid addition by the Bears.

For one, Foles is an experienced quarterback with plenty of playing experience and of course has the one Super Bowl win under his belt.

Additionally, you can look at the decent success he has seen in his career, as Foles has thrown for nearly 12,000 yards while completing 1,051 of 1,698 pass attempts with 71 touchdowns to just 35 interceptions.

Coming in to Chicago, he will not only provide immediate depth, but plenty of NFL experience that will be invaluable. Now only if he can stay healthy and replicate the success he saw in Philadelphia!
