Arizona Basketball nowhere near the Pre-Season Top 25 for 2020-21
With the focus now turned towards 2020-21, the ‘way too early pre-season polls’ are out, and nowhere near the Top 25 list is the Arizona Basketball team.
In news that shouldn’t be deemed so shocking, the Arizona Basketball team will have A LOT of work to do this off-season. Especially if they are to get some recognition, and to get things ready for the 2020-21 season.
As it stands, most are anticipating that the Wildcats will see the departures of all three freshmen in, Nico Mannion, Zeke Nnaji and Josh Green. That’s also not to mention the departures of seniors Stone Gettings and Dylan Smith.
Arizona Wildcats
That’s virtually all of Arizona’s production from the 2019-20 season.
With just Dalen Terry and Ben Mathurin committed for 2020, in addition to the incoming transfer of James Akinjo and Jordan Brown, and things look a little intimidating heading into next year.
We don’t how Christian Koloko will develop either, however his development will likely be crucial to next years’ success. Also, having a senior Ira Lee will be nice, even with his inconsistencies on the offensive end. And lastly we still don’t know the fate of Brandon Williams.
So given what we already know about Arizona’s roster for next season, and it’s clear to see why not many are putting a ton of stock into the Wildcats. It even shows by leaving them off their pre-season Top 25 lists.
Now granted, a lot could change from now until August, but at this point, there are just a lot of unknowns with the roster and program. Either way, the Wildcats will have plenty of work to do this off-season, especially if they are to get to the level of expectations that we’ve grown accustomed to when it comes to Arizona Basketball.
We’re certainly hopeful that Sean Miller and staff can put together a solid group that will still be able to compete at a high level!
