Grant Gunnell could be one of the best quarterbacks in Pac-12
Even though we’re months away from the start of the 2020 Arizona Football season, it’s never too early to talk football, starting with Grant Gunnell.
It’s been an agonizing few months for the Arizona Football team, especially as the Wildcats try to rebound from back-to-back losing seasons. Perhaps the good news for them is they can hit refresh, as quarterback Grant Gunnell takes the reins.
Look, there really aren’t a ton of positives to take in for a program that is just 9-15 in the last two years. It looks even more daunting when you consider not many are giving the Cats a fighting chance this year.
Arizona Wildcats
It is worth noting that Arizona will have some of the most returning talent in 2020, with Gunnell perhaps leading the charge.
So why is that something to be optimistic about? Well, we all unfortunately saw the failed experiment between Noel Mazzone and Khalil Tate, but luckily for us Gunnell was recruited specifically for Noel’s offense.
Appearing in eight games, the true freshman would complete 101 of 155 passes as he threw for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns to just one interception.
He would also have another 14 yards rushing on 32 carries with a touchdown.
This season Grant will have a full year to lead the offense, and that could mean big numbers for the Cats!
Even with the doom and gloom that is Arizona, he could be the crucial piece that could help the Wildcats go from bottom of the cellar, to potential bowl team.
And that’s why I feel Grant could potentially be one of the best quarterbacks in the Conference next season. Comparatively speaking, I think he easily ranks up there with USC’s Kedon Slovis, and perhaps even better than Cal’s Chase Garbers and ASU’s Jayden Daniels.
Gunnell was recruited specifically for this offense. He has the skills, he has some good offensive talent around him and he is the future!
Anyways, at Zona Zealots, this is just our perception of the Wildcats, we just hope Arizona can prove the doubters wrong. As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
