While many are trying to stay busy during the quarantine, Arizona Football Strength and Conditioning Brian Johnson shares his way of being productive.

It’s a challenging time for a lot of people right now. As some have lost jobs, others being stuck at home, etc. For college athletes, it’s even more challenging, as they are not able to train on campus given the current state of things. Luckily for us, Arizona Football Strength & Conditioning coach Brian Johnson is making the most out of the situation.

For those that don’t know who Coach Johnson is, Brian is the big, burly man who can often be seen roaming the Arizona sidelines, wearing a hoodie with the sleeves cut off.

A former standout offensive lineman at LSU during the mid 2000s, Brian would have a small stint in the NFL, before turning his focus to coaching, slowing climbing his way up the ranks as a Strength & Conditioning coach.

Just prior to joining Arizona, Brian was a colleague of Kevin Sumlin’s while at Texas A&M, and naturally, coach Johnson also made the transition to Tucson as well.

Fast forward to now, and Johnson had recently teamed up with Football Scoop on Wednesday and essentially broke down some tips on how he would approach training during and after the Corona Virus epidemic.

Some of the biggest talking points he went over during his presentation were:

  • How he has adapted and changed his approach to helping his players train, especially during the quarantine
  • How his workouts have been adapted for players who may not have the same resources as others
  • His expectations he has for the players as they transition from home workouts to returning to campus once the quarantine subsides
  • How to get the most out of training during quarantine

It’s great having a resource like Johnson, who seems to be adjusting and planning around the quarantine well. Arizona is very lucky to have him on staff!
