With Arizona Basketball down a spot on their coaching staff, could Former Wildcat Jason Terry soon be joining the Cats?

It’s been a few weeks since previous assistant coach Justin Gainey announced he would be leaving the Wildcats to rejoin Marquette. With the staff spot still open, Arizona may have Gainey’s replacement in former Wildcat, Jason Terry.

Making news via social media today, was that ‘The Jet’ could soon again be on the Arizona sidelines.

Basketball Analyst Jeff Goodman took to Twitter to announce that “Former Arizona star and NBA point guard Jason Terry has emerged as the leading candidate to join Sean Miller’s staff as an assistant.”

Jason responded in a cryptic way, which is leaving many to think that the former Arizona guard could indeed be coming back to Tucson!

While nothing is official as of yet, this would be a great hire, as Terry is an Arizona legend, so it would be greatly welcomed among fans. Additionally beyond his pedigree as a player, he’s been making in roads to potentially become a coach.

For those that don’t know, Terry is currently an assistant general manager for the Texas Legends of the NBA G League.

The transition for him back to college would be a good one for the Cats, especially on the recruiting front. Terry hails from the PNW (Pacific Northwest) area, and is well respected by many. The PNW has certainly a hotbed for recruiting with players like; Terry, Allonzo TrierJaden McDaniels (’19), Paolo Banchero (’21), and Nolan Hickman (’21) among numerous others that have come from there.

While this all sounds promising, again, nothing is official as of yet. The school still is on a hiring freeze, so it can’t officially be announced yet, but things look like Terry become an assistant with the Cats.
