Arizona Basketball gets commit from International big man, Daniel Batcho

Needing more players for 2020-21, the Arizona Basketball team has got another one as French big man Daniel Batcho has committed to Arizona.

The Arizona Basketball team is on a roll in recruiting, days after getting one of the top international point guards in Kerr Kriisa. Now the Wildcats have added another top international prospect in French big man, Daniel Batcho.

Meet Daniel, the 18-year old, 6-foot-10-inch forward/ center from France, and most recent Arizona commit.

Reportedly holding offers from Arizona State, Creighton, Miami, Virginia Tech and Washington State in addition to Arizona, it seems like Batcho was more than ready to make his announcement as the news of his commitment broke via social media.

As it stands, Batcho becomes the fourth player to sign with the Cats, and will join Kriisa, Benedict Mathurin and Dalen Terry, in addition to incoming transfers of Terrell Brown and James Akinjo.

Just three-to-four weeks ago, it looked as if things were looking pretty bleak for the 2020-21 season. However, fast forward to today, and things are looking much better for the upcoming year!

So why do we like this pick up? Well, besides him providing immediate depth at the post position, Batcho projects as a multi-year player that will continue to develop.

Additionally, he looks like a very competent and confident two-way player. He’s skilled offensively and looks pretty solid defensively as well!

And according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, “He [Batcho] ranked second in Player Efficiency Rating at the U16 European Championship in 2018, behind only projected top-five 2021 NBA draft pick Usman Garuba from Spain.”

That’s pretty high praise to be getting so early in his career.

Just from looking at his film there’s plenty to like. He has good touch around the rim, looks pretty smooth in his offensive game and doesn’t shy from contact. He finishes well around the bucket and even looks good in transition. With more development, I can see him being a highly productive college player in the future!
