Amid the Corona Virus hiatus on sports, we move towards 2020-21 and already big changes are in store as the Pac-12 announced a 20-game schedule for its member schools, including Arizona Basketball.

Big changes are on the horizon, not only for Arizona Basketball, but more specifically with the Pac-12 as well. For those that don’t know, the conference is slowing moving towards a 20-game conference schedule as opposed to an 18-game schedule.

The move was initially announced back in December, but it seems like things are moving in a direction and will actually happen next year!

As it stands, here are the games being added for next season!

  • Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020 – Stanford at USC
  • Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020 – Colorado at Arizona; Oregon State at Washington State
  • Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 – Arizona State at California; UCLA at Oregon; Washington at Utah
  • Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 – Washington State at Colorado; USC at Oregon State
  • Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020 – Utah at Arizona State; California at UCLA; Oregon at Washington
  • Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020 – Arizona at Stanford

I know this is a change that personally I’ve been wanting and waiting for, and I don’t feel like I’m the only one here in favor of moving to a 20-game conference schedule either

Since joining the Pac-12 from the Pac-10, it’s definitely been quite the adjustment, especially as the Cats don’t get to play every team twice.

As I’m sure you have noticed, there have been some years where we may travel to Los Angeles, for instance but the LA schools don’t come here. With all due respect to the Pac-12, that’s an awful outcome as Arizona should ALWAYS be playing home-and-away’s with the Bruins.

Arguably those teams have the best rivalry in the conference when it comes to basketball, or at least used to. Also, more exposure is a good thing for the conference.

Anyways, at Zona Zealots, I know we’re in favor of the move and can’t to see how this all plays out! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
