Still in the midst of the Corona Virus Pandemic, sports have been halted, and the 2020 Arizona Football season could also be in jeopardy as well.

At this point, we’re still months away from the start of the 2020 College Football season. With still sports halted due to the Corona Virus pandemic, there is a lot of concern as to whether an Arizona Football season will even happen.

There’s no doubt it has been some very surreal times. No March Madness, no Baseball, no Stanley Cup, all of it cancelled.

While drastic measures needed to be taken in order to make sure we can help flatten the curve, the virus has surely had its impact financially, especially as the Athletic Department will experience a $7.5 million shortfall.

I know at this point we are all looking for something positive to look too, anything to give us a sense of normalcy, like having sports back. However, there unfortunately is no timeline as to when we can resume to normal activity.

University of Arizona President Robert Robbins spoke at large in a radio interview regarding Arizona Football, and whether he thinks there will actually be a season ahead of us.

At this point, there is some doubt the season starts on time, or maybe even has one. “My sense is, right now, I just don’t see that happening,” Robbins said in that interview according to the Arizona Daily Star. He later went on to say “as much as I want it, it just seems as though if we do play any football in the fall, it’s going to be delayed.”

Not exactly what you want to hear, especially as your Athletic Department has some significant financial woes to overcome, and not having a football season would make matters worse financially.

It’s worth noting that right now nothing is official as of yet, and the season is still scheduled to go on as planned. The Wildcats are slated to open its season on Aug. 29 then they take on Hawaii at Hawaii.
