Arizona Football: WR Jamarye Joiner undergoes surgery
Following a terrific sophomore campaign, Arizona Football standout Jamarye Joiner undergoes successful surgery for his broken foot.
It’s been a rather long and tough off-season for the Arizona Football team, especially for wide receiver standout Jamarye Joiner. Not long after Spring ball had started for the University of Arizona, we learned that Joiner went down with a foot injury, sidelining him indefinitely.
As fans, it definitely was tough news to take in, especially as the redshirt sophomore had put together such a great season last year.

Originally recruited as a quarterback from Cienega High School (Vail, AZ), Joiner of course switched to receiver prior to last year, and in his first season at the new position, the Tucson native finished the year with 34 catches for 552 yards and five touchdowns.
Jamarye was arguably Arizona’s best receiver last year, and will likely be the Wildcats’ best receiver this year too! The kid has talent and is only going to continue to get better with more reps and practice.
So coming into the Spring, Joiner was poised for a big off-season! However, that derailed quickly.
Aside from the Corona Virus halting football altogether, Joiner actually got injured pretty early on in Spring Football, and had to sit out until he fully recovers.
Well on Tuesday afternoon, Jamarye got one step closer to healing as he finally went into surgery for his foot, and by all accounts, the surgery went well.

For those that don’t know, Joiner suffered a Jones fracture which is essentially a break that happens between the base and shaft of the fifth metatarsal bone of the foot according to Medical News Today.
The surgery today was to help repair the foot and put in a rod as well. Because of the surgery, Joiner will have to spend the next estimated 6-8 weeks recovering says Arizona Daily Star writer, Michael Lev.
We know for Jamarye, recovery will be crucial, especially as he’s expected to have a sizable impact in 2020!
At Zona Zealots, we would like to wish Jamarye a quick and speedy recovery! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
