Brandon Williams will play, but will it be with Arizona Basketball?

In a public interview done recently, Arizona Basketball guard Brandon Williams says he intends to play in 2020-21, but where just seems to be the question.

Perhaps the final piece to the Arizona Basketball recruiting class, and the question seemingly on every fans’ mind is; will Brandon Williams be available for 2020-21, and will he play?

As you may recall, BWill was the standout freshman during the 2018-19 season that unfortunately did not play last year, due to yet another knee injury.

A once highly-touted and highly-regarded recruit out of Crespi Carmelite High School in Southern California, big things were on the horizon for Brandon coming in. That is until the injuries have slowed his success somewhat.

For those that don’t know, Brandon has a medical condition called osteochondritis dissecans. It’s a condition that develops in the joints, and occurs when a small segment of bone begins to separate from its surrounding region due to a lack of blood supply according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

The injury required surgery last year, causing Brandon to miss the entire season.

It has been rather unfortunate to see, especially since BWill has so much potential. But luckily there has been hope that he will be available for 2020-21, the question just seems to be to what extent, and whether Brandon will suit up with the Cats again or not.

In an interview on Instagram Live, BWill talked at length regarding many things, including the injuries, his recoveries, and the plan for his future.

“I don’t know where this stigma comes from where people get that I’m not playing ever again or playing next year… I’m definitely gonna play” he said.

I know there has been a lot of questions/ concerns as to whether he will be available in 2020-21, but Brandon says he will be. He even added that “It’s just a matter of where at this point.” Meaning it may not even be at Arizona.

“Obviously college is one (path), but I gotta do my homework, get my information, but I’m definitely gonna play,” Williams said.

And given the moves Sean Miller and the Wildcats have made this off-season, perhaps Arizona may not be the future for Brandon.

If that’s the case, it would be unfortunate as he has so much potential, and you just hope he’s not being run off. Either way you just hope Brandon can come back healthy wherever he plays, and continue to play at the dominant level he was at before!
