With OSU being punished can we expect the same for Arizona Basketball?

As the Oklahoma State Basketball program receives their punishment from the NCAA, could we expect a similar punishment for Arizona Basketball as well?

It’s been almost three years since we first learned about the FBI Investigation involving Arizona Basketball and numerous other programs, but luckily for us, we may finally getting closer to a resolution.

If you’ve been paying attention to recent events, you would have seen programs like Kansas, TCU, Louisville and most recently Oklahoma State all receive their notice of allegations and/ or punishments, and Arizona could soon be among that group.

Look, we’re not going to pretend that Arizona isn’t going to be punished, and we would have to be pretty naive to think we come out of this unscathed. However, as that likely happens sooner rather than later, it’s always been a question as to the matter of the severity.

So with OSU now being punished and being banned from the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament, that is why we have intrigue in their program and their punishment in particular.

If you look at both programs and the allegations that have came from the FBI Investigation, they are indeed pretty similar. OSU assistant Lamont Evans admitted to taking $22,000 in bribes. Former Wildcat assistant Book Richardson admitted to taking $20,000.

From the surface, they look pretty similar, but perhaps the major difference being is that Arizona has drawn more media attention and head coach Sean Miller was on tape as well. With how inconsistent the NCAA, it’s just hard to guess what they will do with Arizona in this situation.

Nonetheless, the punishment perhaps gives us some sort of preview to what could happen to the Wildcats, and I think if Arizona were to only have a one-year postseason ban, that wouldn’t be so bad, but we will see.
