Arizona Football gains commit from So Cal DB, Cole Batson
Continuing to make progress in the class of 2021, the Arizona Football team picked up another commitment in Southern California defensive back, Cole Batson.
Trekking along this off-season, the Arizona Football is making headway in the recruiting class of 2021 as they picked up yet another commitment. This time it’s from Southern California defensive back, Cole Batson.
On Sunday morning, the San Clemente High School standout took to social media, officially committing to the Wildcats, picking Arizona despite offers from; Harvard, Yale, Washington State, Maryland and Boston College among numerous others.
Arizona Wildcats
Considered a three-star in the class 2021, Batson is rated as the No. 1,148 overall recruit in the class, is the No. 83 overall athlete and the No. 94 overall player in the talent-rich state of California.
As Cole officially becomes the fifth commitment in the class he will also join players like; Kolbe Cage, Jackson Bailey, JT Hand and Evan Branch-Haynes and is a solid addition.
Standing an impressive 6-feet-4-inches and 190 pounds, Cole likely projects as a defensive back, however, he is a long and rangy athlete that could possibly project as a receiver or tight end for the Wildcats as well.
At his High School, Cole certainly put up some impressive numbers, mostly playing safety and receiver/ tight end, he accounted for 249 yards and four touchdowns on 26 receptions. He was also a play maker in the secondary, totaling 91 tackles (60 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss, two interceptions and six pass deflections according to Maxpreps.
Cole is a smart kid who is incredibly versatile and that is a good things to have in a recruit if your the Wildcats!
On film there is plenty to like here. On defense, Cole is quick, he shows great fluidity and eye discipline in his coverage skills, and can finish by making a nice, clean hit.
Just watch for yourself!
At Zona Zealots, we’re excited for the addition of Cole and can’t wait to see what he brings to Tucson! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
