Already cutting Kadeem Allen, the New York Knicks are making more moves as they have also decided to waive former Wildcat Allonzo Trier.

The NBA is a tough business, and as a player you never know what is going to be in store for your career year-in and year-out. For former Wildcat and now former New York Knicks guard Allonzo Trier, he is certainly finding that out.

On Friday in a shocking move, we found out via social media that the New York Knicks have decided to release Trier. This just days after releasing fellow teammate and former Wildcat, Kadeem Allen.

To us, the move comes as a bit unprecedented and surprising, as Trier has been such a pleasant surprise in the league thus far!

Ever since coming into the league undrafted in 2018, Trier has been an underdog that has proven his worth in my opinion, and the move is a bit puzzling to say the least.

He was a star at Arizona, and defied all the odds in getting to the league, as he signed with the Knicks and quickly played out of his two-way contract.

Trier was so good in his rookie season, that New York made room for him on their roster, even paying him a substantial amount of money to make it work.

The only unfortunate thing for him, was that he was playing for a mismanaged organization in the Knicks that has become synonymous with losing.

Despite appearing in 88 games, averaging nearly 10 points and just under three rebounds per game, his time in the ‘Big Apple’ is done.

However, in my so humble opinion, I think Trier is too talented to stay down. He is a scorer, and in the right organization he can thrive! He just needs his chance, and perhaps this is a blessing in disguise for him!

Now he can join a different team, and perhaps one that is a bit better managed and ran than the Knicks.

Here was the game when Trier scored 31 points just last season!

At Zona Zealots, we’re hopeful Trier can rebound quickly and get his chance elsewhere, he’s too talented not to!
