With Covid cases steadily rising in Arizona, the Arizona Athletics department has decided to hold off in bringing back the rest of its student athletes.

It’s been over two weeks since Arizona Athletics, and more specifically the Arizona Football team had returned to action, where they have slowly been re-integrating their student athletes on campus.

Finally! Perhaps we were returning to a sense of normalcy, or at least so we thought…

Well, fast forward to now, and things surely are not getting any better for anyone in the state of Arizona. In case you haven’t been paying attention, the number of positive Covid cases have been steadily rising in the state, especially as people have essentially thrown out the rules of social distancing, etc.

Making news via social media on Monday evening, was that the University of Arizona would be holding off in allowing more student athletes to return to campus.

If I’m being honest, it’s a move that is a bit frustrating, as I feel we could have done better in preventing the spread of Covid in the first place, however, I do applaud the University in doing their best to protect their student athletes!

Also, perhaps in a bit of positive news, Jason Scheer with 247Sports had indicated just one player from Arizona tested positive for Covid out of a possible 83 tests. I know one case is one too many, however that at least seems a bit like a silver lining to me.

So for now, it’s just a matter of waiting things out and continuing to utilize best practices in preventing the spread. Also and more importantly, protecting the student athletes is going to be paramount moving forward.

While I would love for sports to return quickly, that can all wait, and putting people in harms ways isn’t worth it to me.

light. More. On Arizona Athletics

Either way, hopefully the University of Arizona can continue to find ways in getting creative and find ways to protect their student athletes! As always, Bear Down Arizona!
