Washington LB DJ Fryar commits to Arizona Football
Arizona Football continues it’s momentum as they pick-up yet another commitment for 2021, this time in Washington Linebacker, DJ Fryar!
What a great start to the Fourth of July Weekend! The Arizona Football team got another commitment for 2021, and this one is from Tacoma area Linebacker, DJ Fryar.
Making his announcement via social media, DJ picked the Wildcats despite offers from; Fresno State, Boise State, Washington State, Army and Air Force among others!

Standing a very sturdy 6-feet-3-inches and roughly 205 pounds, he’s yet another defensive commitment and more importantly a linebacker commitment. With the addition of DJ, he becomes not only the 12th commit in the class, but ninth defensive commit and the fourth linebacker commitment.
To say Arizona is clearly prioritizing defense and in particular the linebacker position this recruiting cycle would be a huge understatement!
As we stated before, Arizona is going to be, and should be aggressive in recruiting defense, and in particular, the defense. The results the past decade have been abysmal, but at least they re-tooled their staff and are bringing in lots of players to create good depth and hopefully raise the talent as well.
Luckily for us, a player like DJ does both things. Aside from his size (which I think is ideal for a linebacker at the next level if he adds a little weight), he is a play maker!
Lining mostly as an inside linebacker, DJ is a standout two-way player at Steilacoom High School, and put together quite the junior season last year. Totaling 87 tackles (40 solo), he also compiled 5.0 tackles for loss, one recorded sack, a fumble recovery and two interceptions according to Maxpreps.
On film, DJ is a kid that plays quick, he plays aggressive and confidently, and can run sideline-to-sideline well, delivering quite the blow! With more coaching and development, he could be a special player!
Just watch for yourself!
At Zona Zealots, we’re excited for the addition of DJ and can’t wait to see what he can bring to Tucson! Bear Down!
