With the NBA still set to return for the end of July, former Wildcat and rising star Deandre Ayton is poised to have a huge finish to the year!

The NBA is soon returning, which means we will soon have our chance to watch a number of former Wildcats compete, including former Wildcat star, Deandre Ayton!

A star in the making already, the former No. 1 pick was just finding his groove in the 2019-20 season, before Covid hit and derailed the season.

Luckily, the Bahamian big man will have another chance to play this year and get some valuable playing time!

Already becoming one of the best bigs in the league, this is a great chance to play more meaningful games, competing against some of the best teams and players in the league.

And with the Suns set to begin their season on July31, perhaps no one could stand to benefit more than Ayton.

If you need a reminder of just how dominant Ayton can be, here was his stretch of games in February, right before the season was halted…

  • 25 points, 17 rebounds, 3 blocks
  • 28 points, 19 rebounds, 3 blocks
  • 28 points, 19 rebounds, 1 block
  • 26 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks
  • 25 points, 17 rebounds, 2 blocks
  • 20 points, 14 rebounds, 1 block

Keep in mind he didn’t play a full season not only due to Covid, but because of his suspension as well!

In fact, Ayton has yet to still play a full season in the NBA, so to say he’s barely scratching the surface to me would be an understatement!

In just his two seasons, his defense has come a long ways, and he’s really beginning to emerge as a solid, young player!

With the Suns still currently six games out of first place with the re-start happening, it’s unlikely they will make the playoffs, but that still isn’t stopping a motivated Ayton to try and silence the doubters.
